Near Twelve Mile Beach in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore lies one of the most picturesque white birch forests in Michigan. An especially nice time to view (and photograph) the forest is in autumn when the birch leaves begin to turn gold. Sugar maple and white pine inter-spersed among the birches, lend red and green highlights to the white trunks and golden leaves.
