One morning in late August, I was photographing a blue heron along the shoreline of Kent Lake near Milford Michigan. As I knelt to focus on the bird, I happened to glance out over the water. When I saw this scene in front of me, I completely forgot about the heron and scrambled to change lenses and capture the scene before it changed. This peaceful composition remains one of my favorite photographic images.
